Before We Begin
Starting therapy is a meaningful step. I aim to make it clear and supportive from the beginning.
A brief consultation
A short phone or video call to understand what you’re looking for and see if we’re a good fit.
Simple onboarding
You’ll receive secure forms to complete at your pace, sharing what feels important.
A collaborative first session
We’ll talk about what’s been weighing on you, what you hope to change, and what support feels most helpful.
A personalized, flexible plan
Together we’ll outline a direction for therapy using evidence-based approaches that match your strengths, goals, and pace.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before you start. My role is to walk with you through the uncertainty and help you begin in a way that feels grounded and manageable.

Before You Arrive
Starting therapy is an important step, and I want your first visit to feel as comfortable and grounded as possible. Here are a few things that may help you prepare for your in-person or telehealth session.
-
You’ll have several parking options (off-street, free lot behind the building, or the Metro Station garage across the street). Arriving a bit early can help you settle in and feel more at ease.
-
Your appointment confirmation will include the exact office details and instructions for entering the building. If you have any accessibility needs, please let me know so I can support you.
-
Water, a journal, tissues, or simply a few deep breaths before entering the space — whatever helps you arrive fully and gently is welcome.
If You’re Coming In-Person
-
Choose a place where you feel safe speaking freely and won’t be interrupted. Headphones can help with privacy and sound quality.
-
A stable internet connection ensures we can spend our time focused on you, not troubleshooting. If issues arise, we’ll sort them out together.
-

What You Don’t Need to Prepare
You don’t need a perfect life story, a polished explanation of your symptoms, or answers to big questions before you come. You also don’t need to “get it all together” before therapy starts — that’s what therapy is for. Just bring yourself. Your story will unfold at a pace that feels right for you.
If You Feel Nervous
It’s completely normal to feel unsure before the first session. Many people do. I’ll walk you through the process step by step, and you can ask questions at any time. You’re not expected to know everything before you arrive — only to take the next step.
